Catra's ear twitched. Something was making noise. She pressed her head further into Adora's chest and ignored it, drifting back to sleep at the sound of her heartbeat.
A couple seconds later, it came back. Catra stirred again, much more annoyed now that she was actually waking up. After pressing her head against her wife one last time, she sighed with resignation and groggily opened one eye.
From behind the blinding morning lights of the window, an inappropriately colorful horse was grinning at her. She gave it the grumpiest, deadliest glare she could muster, but it didn't seem to care as it gestured towards Adora and started making inappropriate gestures. About half a minute later, a black shape leaped on it, and the horse disappeared.
Catra grinned. She had a pet of her own.
Sadly, the horse was right. It was time to wake up. She carefully crawled up on the bed, and gently kissed Adora's cheek. The blonde didn't react. Slightly disappointed, she gave her another kiss. Adora stirred a bit.
After half a dozen kisses, Adora finally opened her eyes to a grinning Catra.
"Hey, Adora."
Adora wrangled a hand around her wife. "Hey, Catra."
"Time to get up."
Adora groaned and slumped back onto the cushion. Catra giggled and started tickling her.
"Okay, okay, I'm getting up! Staaahp!"
From the other side of the room, another giggle joined in and started babbling. Despite almost no sleep, Catra got up and went to the cradle, picking up her little one. "Look who else is hungry here. Aren't you, my little kitten . . ." Cradling Finn with one hand, she pulled down the collar of her pyjama shirt with the other. "You're on diaper duty today, Adora!"
"I know, I know . . ." Adora groggily got up and got dressed, stopping by the two to caress Finn and give Catra another kiss. "Should I get you something?"
"Mm, why?" Flashbacks of a dark silhouette in the corridors of Brightmoon came to her. "Oh. Well, that's why I have you to protect me, don't I? Come on, let's go get breakfast."
